OpenEndo is volunteer-run and MIT-licensed. No contribution is too small — and everything here compounds into a disease that is finally impossible to ignore.
Use the data 5 min
Every dataset is a public good: recruiting trials, Danish trials, new research, funding deadlines. Download it, cite it, embed it in your own site, article or grant application. No permission needed — MIT. If you're a journalist or researcher, these numbers are yours.
Contribute leads 10 min
Know a funding call, a recruiting trial, a new diagnostic or a patient organisation we've missed? Open an issue or a PR against docs/data/funding.json / content.json. Sources required so we can verify. Start with the "funding / research leads" good first issue.
Translate 30 min
The site is English + Danish. Add Spanish, French, German, Portuguese… The i18n dictionary is ~40 keys in docs/app.js; content strings are in content.json. Follow the style guide, open a PR — the language toggle appears automatically. See good first issue #1.
Code & design 2–4 h
Charts, new data sources, a dark mode, accessibility, an API wrapper… Read BRAND.md + the style guide, pick a good first issue, and PR. Bump ?v=N on assets when you change them — GitHub Pages caches hard.
Run the pipeline 30 min setup
Fork the repo, run python3 scripts/update_data.py weekly (cron/GitHub Actions), and you have your own living mirror of endometriosis research — for a research group, a patient organisation or your own projects. The script queries ClinicalTrials.gov and PubMed and commits only when something changed.
Spread the word 5 min
Share openendo.org with one person who needs it, one journalist who covers women's health, one politician. The Danish one-pager is ready for regional councils and MP candidates — and the MY-ENDO trial is recruiting in Denmark right now.
Fund & partner ongoing
Donate where it moves the needle: Endometriose Fællesskabet (MobilePay 71980), Endometriosis Foundation of America, WERF. Researchers & hospitals: use the data, join the compute agenda, cite the datasets. Companies: the funding watch shows where your grants land. And if you want to sponsor OpenEndo itself — open an issue; we'll set up the honest way to do it.
What your help unlocks
Every contribution lands on the same pile: a disease that affects ~190 million women, waits 7–10 years to be diagnosed, and receives a fraction of the research funding it deserves. The data you add, the language you translate, the issue you file — that is the infrastructure the next patient, journalist, researcher or politician will stand on.
